What Is High Traffic?

Heavy traffic occurs when a website or application receives a large number of user visits within a short period of time. This can be caused by a special promotion, an advertising campaign or viral content. If the infrastructure is not prepared for such a heavy flow of visitors, heavy traffic can overload the servers and cause the site to slow down or crash completely.
