How is the Hepsiburada commission calculated with respect to VAT?
On Hepsiburada, the rate in the table excludes VAT: the commission is calculated on the listing price and invoiced with 20% VAT added. So at the same rate, Hepsiburada's deduction comes out higher than on marketplaces whose rate includes VAT.
The formula in plain text: Net profit = Sale price ÷ (1 + VAT rate) − Sale price × commission rate − shipping − processing fee − product cost. Because the VAT on the commission can be deducted, the profit calculation uses the commission excluding VAT; the payout, however, is reduced by the amount including VAT.
Example: what is the Hepsiburada profit on a towel set?
Towel and bathrobe sets fall under the 18% (+VAT) rate in the Hepsiburada table, on the Home Textiles › Bath Textiles row.
In this example the profit margin is about 21% of the sale price (127 ÷ 600). Before offering a discount, you can see how much the margin will narrow with the discount calculator.
What commission do you pay in which category on Hepsiburada?
The calculator uses the 156 category rows of Annex-4 of the Hepsiburada seller agreement; rates range from 6% to 25%. Some examples from home and sports products:
| Category | Rate (+VAT) |
|---|---|
| Sports equipment (treadmill, exercise bike) | %10 |
| Sports disciplines | %13 |
| Small kitchen appliances (blender, tea and coffee maker) | %13 |
| Camping and outdoor equipment | %14 |
| Bath textiles, rugs and kilims | %18 |
| Toys | %18 |
The rates are taken from the official list, version dated 27 August 2026. For most categories payment is made 24 business days after delivery; the period for the category you select appears in the result. For the steps to open a store, see the Hepsiburada seller application article.
How much do shipping and the processing fee affect profit on Hepsiburada?
On low-priced products, shipping and the fixed processing fee can take a larger share than the commission. Because these fees grow with the number of orders rather than with the product price, they can eat up most of the profit on a ₺200 product.
When you select "From the contracted tariff" in the calculator, Hepsiburada's shipping price by desi (volumetric weight) appears. Check the box size with the desi calculator; even a single desi of difference changes the profit.
Which is more profitable: Hepsiburada or your own e-commerce site?
Unit profit is often higher on your own site because the commission line disappears, but you have to bring in the traffic yourself. Hepsiburada, on the other hand, offers a ready customer base and takes a share of every order in return.
For a sound comparison, put the profit of the same product on both channels side by side: compare the net profit on this page with the profit margin result calculated with the payment fee and advertising cost on your own site. Also factor in cash flow: Hepsiburada's payment arrives 24 business days later in most categories, while on your own site collection depends on your payment provider's schedule.
In the "Price" and "Cost" options the calculator accepts entry with or without VAT; just type the amount the way you see it on the invoice. If your product's VAT rate is 1% or 10%, change the "VAT rate" option. We cover the cost items of setting up a site in the how much does it cost to set up an e-commerce site article.
