Why do I need a WhatsApp link for my store?
The link lets customers message you with one tap without adding your number to their contacts; you don’t lose the customer who shops on a phone and prefers to ask by writing. A customer who asks about size, colour, delivery time or made-to-order items before deciding may abandon the cart if no answer comes.
The preset message is the second half of the job: the customer doesn’t face an empty screen but starts with “Hello, I had a question about this product.” And as soon as you read the message, you know which product or channel they came from.
Before publishing the link, also set up your reply routine. In the WhatsApp Business app you can define business hours, an out-of-hours automatic reply and quick replies for frequently asked questions. That way a late-night “is this product in stock?” doesn’t go unanswered, and the customer knows when to expect a reply. If you use separate numbers for sales and support, create a separate link for each, so that order questions don’t land on the support line and return requests don’t land on the sales line.
What is the format of a wa.me link?
The format is https://wa.me/905XXXXXXXXX?text=message: the number is written with the country code, without a plus sign, spaces or a leading 0, and the message is added encoded in the text parameter. Special characters and spaces are encoded so that they don’t break in the address bar; the tool does this automatically.
https://wa.me/908503331523. With the message “Hello, I would like information about the Ultimate plan.” it turns into the format https://wa.me/908503331523?text=Merhaba%2C%20Ultimate%20paketi%20hakk%C4%B1nda%20bilgi%20almak%20istiyorum..The api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=… format opens the same chat; it is longer, and some older plugins expect it. For new uses, wa.me is shorter and more readable.
Which preset message goes with which channel?
Write a separate message for each channel; that way you can tell from the message itself where an incoming chat came from. The table below shows the places an e-commerce business uses most often:
| Link placement | Preset message example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Product page | Hello, I would like to ask about the fabric options of the Linea three-seater sofa. | Pre-sales question |
| Order confirmation email | Hello, I am writing about my order. My order number: | After-sales support |
| Card in the shipping box | Hello, my product has arrived and I would like to make an exchange. | Returns and exchanges |
| Instagram profile | Hello, I would like to order the product I saw on Instagram. | Selling through social media |
| Wholesale page | Hello, I would like to receive the wholesale price list. | Dealer request |
How do I add the link to my site?
Copy the button HTML from the tool and paste it into an HTML area on your site; the button opens the chat in a new tab. Adding a message by hand to every product is laborious. If you use Faprika, the WhatsApp Order Module adds the button to product pages and opens the message ready with the product details; you can show the button on all products or on products you select.
When incoming messages grow, more than one representative needs to reply from the same line. For this, the DialogTab WhatsApp sales channel integration brings WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger messages together on a single screen.
How do I take the link onto paper and ads?
On printed surfaces, turn the link into a QR code instead of writing it out: simply use the wa.me address you got in the QR code generator as a web address type. When the code printed on a shipping card, a shop window or a catalogue page is scanned, the chat opens with the preset message.
For ads that send people to a page on your site, add UTM parameters to the page address to see which campaign brings visitors. Because a wa.me link goes straight to the chat, it doesn’t show up in Analytics; tell channels apart with different preset messages.
