What Is MX Record?

An MX (Mail Exchange) record specifies which servers should receive the email traffic of a domain name. These records, which are part of the DNS (Domain Name System), ensure that email service is routed to the right server. For example, when a company provides email service with its own domain name, MX records specify which servers will process those emails.
